About Athena
Hello everyone
My name is Anila Manoj, I am a Zoologist by training.
I have always been in love with the beauty and tranquility of the natural world. Although the responsibilities of work and parenting kept me from pursuing this passion, slowing down during covid allowed me to reconnect with this part of me and I taught myself to express this passion through art.
I started with photography and recreating the images of the landscapes I capture, through my perspective. Using oil painting as my primary medium, I progressed to painting abstract landscapes and cityscapes.
As an amateur artist, my worldview has changed as I learn more about the places I paint and explore how artistry can help shed a light on so many of today’s issues from climate change to mental health. I hope to use my art to give voice to these issues and to continue my own deepening understanding of our world.
