 Hello everyone

Hello, I’m Anila — a self-taught artist and former biologist now fully devoted to the world of visual art. My lifelong fascination with nature continues to inspire my paintings, guiding me to explore its beauty, strength, and quiet emotion through oil on canvas. Working from my studio, Athena Gallery, in the UK, I strive to capture moments of stillness and connection in the world around us.

My work includes:

• Landscapes that reflect the peace and vastness of open spaces

• Cityscapes that reveal the quiet charm of urban life

• Floral studies celebrating form, colour, and light

• Animal portraits expressing character and spirit

Abstract pieces inspired by natural patterns and textures, offering a more intuitive interpretation of nature 

I primarily work in oils, layering colour and tone to achieve depth, movement, and mood. My goal is to evoke a sense of calm and reflection in the viewer — a visual pause from the busyness of life.

I’m a proud member of the Reading Guild of Artists and the Wokingham Art Society, and I continue to learn, experiment, and grow with every piece I create.

Outside my studio, I’m also the author of The Bare Necessities of Student Cooking, available on Amazon. The book was written to help students create simple, wholesome, and affordable meals — another way I express creativity and care through everyday life.
